Dr Ali Sibair
Locum NHS consultant
...I'm known for being calm in times of high stress.
That’s why I work in the emergency department.
I came to the West Suffolk as a clinical fellow in 2011. I’ve gained a lot of experience and therefore developed my career. I recently applied for my Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR). I recommend this as a route for overseas doctors seeking to work in the UK.
Many members of staff helped me prepare for this. As a result, I have been asked to work with the exec team to develop a programme of mentoring. This is to ensure we capitalise on how the Trust can support, develop and invest in our future consultants who seek to apply for the CESR.
My experience has seen me go from clinical fellow, to senior rotating clinical fellow where I worked in the emergency department, anaesthetics, intensive care unit, and acute medicine. For more than two years I’ve been a locum NHS consultant in the emergency department.
I have friends from all over the world in Bury St Edmunds. My family likes it here and is very happy and settled. The hospital is friendly and supportive; I would highly recommend it as a place of work.
