National recognition as WSFT staff shortlisted for nursing awards
We are delighted to announce that a number of staff members have been shortlisted as finalists in this year’s Nursing Times Workforce Awards, in the following categories:
- Best Use of Workplace Technology: Renal ward database
- Manager of the Year (Non-clinical): Diane Last
- Nurse Manager of the Year: Diane Last
- Overseas Nurse of the Year: John Songkip (education team)
- Overseas Nurse of the Year: Edelisa Almeida (critical care unit)
- Practice Educator of the Year: Tom Woollard.
We have also been shortlisted as a finalist in the category of:
Best UK Employer of the Year for Nursing Staff
The Nursing Times Workforce Summit and Awards will be held in London on 22 November to recognise those who have made a positive impact to the profession. It will also bring together some of the country’s most senior nursing and midwifery leaders to help better understand and plan how to address workforce challenges in the NHS.
Executive director of workforce, Jeremy Over said: “On behalf of the whole Trust, I am so delighted these colleagues have been recognised, it is a testament to their hard work and commitment. Giving all our colleagues the opportunity to achieve their potential and develop their careers with us is a priority and we are so pleased that three of our educators are included – Diane, John and Tom. The recognition for Edelisa Almeida, a member of our critical care unit team; and the work of our renal team in making best use of technology reflect their hard work to provide safe, quality and compassionate care for our patients.”
Executive chief nurse Sue Wilkinson said: “To be nominated as Best UK Employer for Nursing Staff is recognition for so many of our WSFT colleagues who do their utmost to make this a rewarding Trust for nurses to work in, especially after the challenging times our nurses have faced over the last couple of years.
